Comp Truck Trailers
I'm preparing to make comp truck trailers to hire. Just wondering how much interest there is out there in doing this? Any suggestions are welcome.

Im here for the sausage!
There's quite a few things you can do to a trailer that's different to the standard ones you hire.... . even possibly put a low mount on it (as someone suggested...hmm maybe this is where the twin motors could come in)...lol.....1MadEngineer wrote:they might have twin motorsWICKED wrote:I'm not interested as we've been building our own.
Question - How will they be different from a normal car trailer from the local servo?
Quite a few ppl have given me great ideas on what they look for in a trailer (width, as mentioned, weight capacity, storage....and so on..)
Not everyone can buy or build one.
What I'm working on isn't just for comp trucks and will be registered, engineered and with proper insurances that's required.

Re: Comp Truck Trailers
They should be banned, all comp trucks should have to drive too and if possible from the event.The_Wazza wrote:I'm preparing to make comp truck trailers to hire. Just wondering how much interest there is out there in doing this? Any suggestions are welcome.
At least for winch challenges.

another thing to consider is drop axles, this gets the whole trailer and load closer to the road.
and if you are goinng to hire it out, make sure that you number plates and all the lights are well protected.

Re: Comp Truck Trailers
Engineers would make a killing if this was the case. How many full on comp trucks are roadworthy....matt.mcinnes wrote:They should be banned, all comp trucks should have to drive too and if possible from the event.The_Wazza wrote:I'm preparing to make comp truck trailers to hire. Are you still coming over for next weekend! I've got my truck running again with a new chassis and few other minor mods. It is amazing how much time goes into building a new chassis. I'm sure it was less to do first time around and second time was just copying the bent one. (with a few extra bits to strengthen it)

Comp trailer hire would be a good idea if the other 90 percent of the time you were hiring to Joe blogs the average user to pick up his restore's dream.
I think that a trailer has to be multi use to make you money. I would also keep it simple as in no winches or you pay extra hire fees for trailer with winch because the average user doesn’t care that the winch is getting hot or that they shouldn't winching on there 10 tonne tractor with a seized motor.

Protection for the tail lights

protection for the clearance light, so people with big feet don't stand on them.
Two of my biggest issues were;
- replacing damaged electrics, lights and trailer plug
-trailer being rerturned covered in mud and oil

Multipul tie down points

Drop axles like a portal in reverse

I hope this helps
