Lightning Ridge Police Bush Safari Invitation - 28th Sept 20

Post by Lightning »

Dear Bush Safarist,

It is that time of year again when we invite you to join us for another heart stopping, mind blowing, and super exciting outback adventure.

Our 18th year of going on Safari will be celebrated with a trek to Birdsville and Back and will take in some of the great sights of three states western regions (NSW, SA and QLD).

The 13 day trip will cover 3600 kilometres, much of which is unsealed, from Lightning Ridge to Innamincka via historic Eulo and Thargomindah and the famous Dig Tree. From Innamincka the two wheel track will lead over the Strezelecki Desert onto Diamantina Crossing – now better known as Birdsville and further west to Boulia. The Safari will water at the famous Walkabout Creek Hotel in the little town of McKinley and onto Winton via Kynuna. The Waltzing Matilda Centre will be a highlight in Winton as will the Stockman’s’ Hall of Fame in Longreach, on route to Ilfracombe. The trekkers will make their way to Charleville via Isisford and Blackall, the town made famous by shearer Jackie Howe. From Charleville it is all down hill to Bollon and return to Lightning Ridge.

Of course all your favourite Bush Safari evening entertainment will be on tap with trivia nights, movies in the outback and theme nights – and as always, an unforgettable Talent Quest.

Be sure to pack your camera as you will see some of the most amazing landscapes, historic infrastructure and cultural heritage and you will not want to miss a thing.

Our committee of Police, Ambulance, SES and our on route mechanic are all fired up and will look forward to making you welcome and safe.

The 2008 safari departs Lightning Ridge on Sunday 28th Sept and returns on Friday10th Oct.

There is a registration fee of $500 per vehicle NOT per person!
