We have thought of bringing just the chassis in and having Chris and the guys in WA put it together, or me building one race ready and sending over.
But I think you would be better off if you took your rig down to just the chassis, engine and running gear and building a cage. With them being so light they can go just about anywhere. I think 4 F-Toys ran King of the Hammers Race this year and they all finished.

I started wih 80 model hilux wreck ,18r ,4spd
A mate who builds full cage VW buggies with rover motors in them built most of the cage as a swap for an old VW buggy i already had
I shifted motor back in the chassis 200mm an lifted transfer 150mm
I used rear springs in the front (only 4 leafs in each side) an made up 150mm shackles, flipped the ball in the J arm so that the shortened drag link would work on the right angle .Also dropped the front spring hangers down 50mm.
Arm strong steering, no flash power stuff here.
In the back I made up my own spring packs using only 6mm leaves
Front mounts for the rear springs have been moved inwards 150mm an made so they can actually rock side ways so as not to twist springs an allow more articulation
Back shackles are 350mm long when they unfold an have also been made to twist (virtually a backyard terraflex but bigger)
Shocks all round are VN commodore rears
2nd hand 33"s
2nd hand 5 point 3" harnesses off ebay
Total cost so far $650
Mount on top of diff housing is where ladder bar bolts on becuse it suffered badly from axle wrap

I have started to build one of these out of a sierra. So far I have removed all the body except the floor pan too see how it goes. They are very light and will go anywhere. My kids drive it around the property. I am in the middle of rebuilding an fj45 then I will get back to finishing it and remove the floor pan to build the frame.flyinwall wrote:sorry i actually meant has anyone here in oz thought of building one as i have been checking them out on pirate and they are pretty amazing with their capability
