GU black steel wheels

Post by nabstud »

I'm looking for some black steel "sunraisia" style black wheels for my 98 GU, 16x8 with a slightly more negative offset (hilux offset).

I've been getting conflicting info from the tyre stores. Apparantly some brands fit and some don't(eg. speedy). I want to get black rims, getting white ones and then powdercoating is not an option. I already have 16" tyres.

Anyone have any experience in getting these rims, particularly in Adelaide? I'm after a slightly wider stance for the patrol. I'm not after info on legality or excessive mechanical stress, just anyone who has them on their truck and brand names.

My original steel wheels are still ok but I've seen many pics of them cracking so I would like to change them before they crack.

try rock crawler steel wheels from procomp. they make a 16x8 series 51 with a -50 offset which gives you about 2 inches over standard.
and they're quite good on price too.

Depends on what you're after and what you are willing to spend, I have a set of OPW flipped rims on my GQ which are black...

These are 15/10 rims, I'm fairly sure they come in 16's though

Not the best picture but hopefully it'll show the widened stance of the GQ.

I run black ROH steels in 16 x 8 on my GQ. RIms were about $100 each from memory and are pretty easy to get in Melbourne, so don't see why Adelaide would be any different. Pics Below.

there is not enough negative offset on the 8" rims, and 12.5 and over wide tyres dont sit right on an 8" rim.

procomp series 51 16x 10 with a largeish negative offset -70 :)

they would be ideal.

the only reason toyota rims wouuldnt fit is because they may have a different centre bore through the brands to fit dome caps and the such. why not get the lazy pricks to try one one first....maybe they just dont want to fit your own tyres.hmm or just go the more xpensive procomp option.

The King Rims will fit nicely. They have a 13 negative offset (same as Hilux & 80s LC). Very nice deep powder coat on them.

The general tyre stores here don't seem to know what I'm talking about!

Cheers for the help and pics, I will try those manufacturers next week to see who their suppliers are.

I have a pair of US black 16 x 8 rims (same as rockcrawler). i had to shave of some of the centre as they were a couple mm too small. Looks wicked though.
