Looking at buying a gq help
2.8td
hey mate
most people will tell you that 2.8s are crap i love mine and i use it ..
normally most problems start around 200,000 k to 250 mark so they should be sorted by now but here's some things i no
let it idle and check for white smoke if so the turbo hasnt been overhauled yet.
hot start take it for a round and get the temp over half normally it sits just under but a good blat up the freeway or a steep hill should get it there then let the turbo cool and turn it off when you start it if it doesnt want to fire then there's two possible poblems 1 is the injector pump but should have been done already (ask owner bout it ).. 2 is the glow plugs not normally a problem on deisel motors when hot except for rd28t two stage glow plugs with ecu ..
fuel
a stock 2.8 with old farmer jones driving it gets about 11l/100k
mines got 3'' system boosted and fueled up still better than
petrol but using 17.5 l/100k
thats 120horsy's at the back wheels and it beats most 4.2s
cheers hope it made sence pm if you like
