L.S.D diff oil

was told by the local service centre to use L S D OIL IN the front diff and gearbox/transfer box ...does this sound right....

It will be ok provided it is the right weight, more expensive though for no real advantage. LSD oil is formulated to prevent slippage in the LSD clutches.

It's fine to use LSD oil instead of normal gear oil, but not the other way around.

I thought it was the other way around. Friction modifiers allow the clutches to slip smoothly, rather than repeatedly slip and grip - which creates the "chatter" for which some LSDs are well known, such as the Holden/Isuzu LSD.
