I took the standard double din stereo out and replaced it with a pioneer CD player and a Uniden UHF.

You can sort of see in these 2 pics.

Marks offroad in Melbourne sell a nice pod unit for the roof, It fits where the roof fuel gauge sits.
The pod bolts between the roof and the fuel gauge console using all original bolt holes.
Neat unit that is easy to fit and remove when you dont want it anymore, plus they sell them for both the pre 95 style and latter models (Contour off head lining is different)

Yeah I think I'll be heading for the Marks mount when I finish spending on the mechanicals. At present it's down under the dash just in front of the gearshift console but I hate it there. Looks ugly and access not great/not bad. Was going to put in radio hole as car came with aftermarket headunit already but the early 80's don't seem to have a lot of storage areas and I think I'll miss the little tray that blanks the excess hole. Also if I have to lose the tray I'd rather it be for a double din touch screen headunit or such.

On a thread highjacking note, Guts if you are still reading what lift is that supposed to be on your Cruiser. I'm having trouble working out where I want to be with my lift. They'd be 35's wouldn't they.

My UHF is pretty slimline so it's tucked in under the dash.

Yeah 35`s with 2 inch springs and 2 inch body lift.
Oh and incase your woundering No the GPS is not mounted in that spot anymore as the glare off it made it near impossible to read it
