SWB GQ Respray

Post by swbpatrol »

Gooda
I was wondering if i could get some info. I took my SWB Patrol GQ into the shop the other day to get a quote for a respray. They quoted me $4000. I thought it was pretty steep and as there are only 3 panel shops in kalgoorlie it would be a shit job anyway. The paint itself is not to bad but could do with a respray. Its main problem is the chips that will turn into rust. and there is a rust hole either side of the door behind the skin. Is it as easy as sanding the spots back and giving it a coat of primer from a spray can and then the base colour from a spray can or should i not attempt it and fork out $4000. Does anyone know any decent panel beaters in Perth???? What have others paid for a respray???

If the paint istelf isnt too bad.. theres no reason why u cant give it a nice lil sand over and hire yourself a compressor and spray it yourself.. have a practice on an old car bonnet or something until you're satisfied with the results?

There are a few shops around that do resprays for 1000 bucks - mind you.. they just do resprays.. so u may have to do some of the preparations yourself.. eg .. sanding back the surface rust and priming to suit and make sure the whole car is cleanas.. then off to the shop it goes ;)

Good luck mate

$4000 sounds steep, but then for a good job, maybe not, does that include repairs?

Not only steep - but not worth it if you're in the outback and you're often goin to get stone chips onto the car now and then.
