Gday all, I'm considering buying a 97 pathy RX as a second vehicle, everyday driver.
The main reasons for considering a pathy is because they are well suited to running on LPG & the particular vehicle i'm looking at seems to be a good deal.
Its a v6 auto 106,000km service history, It drives nice and checks out just fine after my normal used car inspection, so, anything in particular to look out for?
Also welcome peoples opinions on this model, remembering that it will spend 85% of its time on road with the odd trip up the beach.

Pathfinder R50

Thirsty as hell, brilliant for a shopping trolley, plenty of room in the back..
Pathfinder owners club have a good following, so some good tech there, and some real fans of them. No snorkel avail, but isnt end of earth.
They are cheap since they are thirsty, LPG is a must.

Great shopping trolley but a little underpowered which is really noticable when you tow anything with it, or have 5 ppl and a loaded roof rack. Though the wife does race the Commodore ricers in town with it which brings on the next point......
Bad on fuel, and you have to loose the spare to put it on gas. Mechanically cannot fault this car, as it has been given a flogging by my wife but is still trim & terrific.
Off road it isn't bad, just treat it light you stole it. Biggest issue it putting the trailer plug back on after a day out, thinking I am going to have to mount it on the number plate.
I need to look at the back as it sounds like the chassis might be splitting, but need to check that.
Also if I hit my head on the open tailgate again, the bastard will be burnt where it stands.
But really a great vehicle, highly recommend it.

Need a bigger shed...
There isn't much after market suspension available for the R50. I don't know what ARB has but I know all of the other brands that I have tried don't do front struts.

It actually IS worse ! Try to get the 3.5 instead the 3.3, same fuel economy (or the lack of) but much more power.
