6.5's noisy
6.5's noisy
Hi i've just installed TG 6.5's in to my zook and they are really whiney in high range when you back off the accelerator.
Im just wondering if anyone else has had this problem? i only installed them yesterday, i've just put it down to new gears, because i thought being new they might have to "bed in"
Im running VMX 75-85w castrol oil in the transfer, but im going to drain it it about 500k's, im just wondering if i should put some oil stabiliser (morey's or lucas) in their when i change the oil?
Thanks Mitch

I've got 6.4's and they whine on the high way .. i would presume its simply because the gears have more contact (more teeth)
thats exactly it the gears have a different tooth pattern on them to the stock ones and are wider as well, some brands more than others. You wont even notice it after a while, although any passenger you may have will be worried about all the crackling and whining sounds hahaha
4age zook ute in lots of bits
t/case gears noisy.....naaaahhhh. thought they were the beez neez. don't forget when they are installed precise measurements need to be taken of the case and other components so that the correct shimming can be done, some thing people usually don't worry about.

Who said they're not the beez neez?
My 6.5 TT's are quiet - my gearbox/tyres/motor/rattles and squeaks are far noiser than the transfer.

just been through the trail gear 6.5 instructions and it seems they have left out the shimming sequence. for thost that want to know i'll see what i can dig up at home. if the shimming is done correctly it will get rid of heaps of noise.
