gq wheel wobbles and leaky axle seals

Post by rastaman75_ »

gday
so heres the thing, at reasonable speeds of say 70kms+ when i hit a decent sized pothole the front wheels of the ole gq shimmy from side to side and make for a some what terrifying experience. its running 6" lift, tuff dog 5 stage adjustables, rtc steering damp and its on 33's. im led to beleive that its not an uncommon problem but...
also losing diff oil thru what i beleive is the inner axle seal??? figure if im going to go in that far i might as well but new seals through the lot, how much ya reckon for the seal kit and much time / slash expertise does it take to pull down and rebuild?? cheers

Seal kit. Have a look on ebay. Or just goto Nissan and get an axle seal. Then re lube everything

For the shimmy-
Fix caster
Check - Panhard rod bushes, tie rod ends, radius arm bushes, king pin bearings.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY....

If you're having front axle seal issues you might find you have bearing problems which can also cause shimmy related issues!
