I wish to disconnect my front sway bar for offroad,is there a disonnect option for the series 1 Disco?
I plan to remove my rear sway bar, so would like the frontto remain for onroad use.

They do make them, see them on Ebay from time to time. I just took mine off - easier that way

So how do you find the handling without the swaybars? I'm running bilstein shocks, heavy duty front defender springs and lifted pedders springs in the rear, I think this is a fairly stiff setup in the front, I'm actually looking at changing my front springs for pedders also. I don't want to compromise too much onraod handling, but if the articulation gains are worth it maybe I'll remove both front and rear bars.

Defenders don't have them and they are fine on road. There is always going to be the trade off between on and off road handling. Take corners at a slower speed and be happy knowing that off road it will work a treat.

Just take them off and throw them on the scrap heap. ;)

I have a 2" EFS lift with EFS shocks and the first couple of corners were a little surprising but after that the trade off is too good to put them back on. Just don't take corners like a sports car - remember "they can go fast - we can go anywhere"

didn't the first D1's have no sway bars anyway?

Because of access it's not easy to disconnect the front sway bar and there are clearance issues with the front prop shaft.

I removed my front sway bar but retained the rear (needs altering to allow full down travel though).

I have tall soft springs (3"+ lift) and longer (+2") travel bilstein shocks. I find it handles well enough on road and is good off road. I don't like stiff springs off road.
