ontrack super special stage 20th & 21st september

Post by krimnl »

we are looking at running a small event on the same weekend that the Alpine Challenge would have been.

It is a big weekend for CCDA with marshall training at Bindaree. for those doing the marshall training there will be camping , fire & a spit roast saturday night.
Mike Smith is also going to be running a boot camp the same weekend at the same property. camping ect will be with the marshall training.

as there will be experienced competitors there helping with these 2 events and we have Bruce coming over from kiwi land we have decided to put a super special stage together.
The idea is to join about 10 of the ateco stages together and make it 1 big stage through the bush part of the property. The whole lot will be on tulip notes and cars will leave at 5 minute intervals. we would expect between 60 and 90 minutes in the car and about 10 winches!
The event will be called the ONTRACK super special stage . ontrack 4wd in Kealba have donated trophys for 1st 2nd & 3rd places.

We will camp on site and join in the partying with the other groups
We wont be able to cater for spectators but partners of competitiors are welcome. If you want to watch sign up for marshall training and be a part of a great weekend.

If you want to be a part of the super stage contact myself or Wayne Smith with your intrest. As it will be invite only and limited in numbers.

we will need nominations ASAP. If you want to come down and join in speak up now!

Sounds like a great weekend. Do I contact CCDA to register for marshall training - time we had some SA influence in the marshalling area. Gary

the stage route has been set.
there will be a minimum of 9 winches and a possibility of 11!!
someone suggested today that this may not be enough, as the start & finish are in roughly the same spot we might just put in a second lap and make it 20 winches!!!!

some details on the ONTRACK super special stage

Entries are almost all sorted out. we have put together a list of 15ish competitors , I will post up the list shortly. entry forms will be able to be downloaded from the CCDA website.

Cost for the ontrack SSS is $20 per person. so $20 for the driver , $20 for the co-driver and $20 for partners ect. This event is insured by the CCDA aswell as the CCDA putting a spit on saturday night. so i think $20 is a bargain!

The ONTRACK SSS will be held Saturday ONLY. There will be trophies for the top 3 finishers .

Myself & Wayne have worked on setting a long stage that will flow without any issues of oncoming traffic and trying to get as many of the ateco stages in as possible. at the moment we have just about got them all. With a minimum of 9 winches and about an hour of driving i think you will all find it an extreme challenge

and to finish he weekend off, sunday there will be a modified course for the bootcamp people , they will team up with an experienced competitor in a teams special stage.
So if your not doing the ONTRACK SSS sign up for bootcamp and improve your skills on saturday followed by a great drive on sunday!

I will try and post up more news as it happens

this may be a stupid question to some, but can you do the bootcamp without a winch, just do the pracs on the driving technique etc, and then when it comes to the teaching on winch teqhniques, you can just watch others?

Wayne & Myself spent all day Sunday setting up for the ONTRACK SSS
we drove around a couple of the winch hills and we still winched about 20 times!!!!
We have modified some of the ateco stages and some will be run backwards.
Anyone that thinks this will be hard is kidding themselves!!! its going to be worse than that, I will be surprised if everyone finishes.

Make sure you have plenty of fluids in the car for the co-driver aswell as a full tank of fuel. we used a full tank on the set up.

We will also need a couple of helpers for the sunday. Wont be spectacular veiwing in some cases but we need some timekeepers and a few people at key positions to ensure people got the right way.
If you can help out contact myself or Wayne

just a reminder to those that have not sent an entry form in.

we need numbers to cater for the meat saturday night and to know how many toilets are required.

please fill in a form and fax it in to CCDA ASAP

easy enough to fill in and fax to CCDA , the fax number is on the form. You can pay on the day but we need the entry now.

Wayne has put a lot of work into the notes and are now finished. we have added up the distances and it comes to about 10km!!
we have added a couple of loops to keep you all thinking aswell as some long drives to wear out the drivers and at least 12 winches and if its wet the chance of another 6!!!

If you are doing bootcamp you will get to team up with a challenge car on sunday and do a modified version os the SSS that is being sponsored by Pro Comp! so get your entry in NOW!!

We need more marshals so if you have not done the training sign up and be a part of the sport!

We also need a couple of helpers for the Ontrack SSS , if you can help out give me a call or PM me
