FJ45 diff ratio question

Post by Blokeman »

I'm curious if the diff ratios changed in the 40 series around 1970, that or if ratios varied from one 40 to another.
My gearing is very low, in a 1974 FJ45, I don't know what ratios I'm running now. She was once a roo shooters ute from NSW.
Poor old donk is screaming at 100k's...

Reason I ask is when I changed her brake shoes, the shop got them in they were way too big width-wise.
Measure and check, my shoes/drums/everything seem to be from a pre 1970 model. I'm wondering if someone in the past has changed my axles, drum to drum with older axles...
