My Body Lift 60's style

Post by bundytunna »

ok finally did me body lift over the weekend
preety easy the hardest part was droppin the radiator and trimming the hole round the g/box
i decided to go 2" because it is easy to do, doesnt place to much stress on the original mounts and it is most importantly LEGAL
as i found out after i took out the bolts that 60's have different bolt lengths
*the 2 front mounts are 100mm long
*the footwell mounts are 100mm long
*the mounts underneath the front seats are 135mm long
*the mounts underneath the rear seat are 150 mm long
*the mounts in the centre of the cargo area are 100mm long
*the rear mounts are 100mm long
*Note :all the bolt lenghts above are 10mm in diameter and have 3mm thick washers and two nuts underneath
so to accomodate for my 2" lift i bought
*8 x 10mm 150 mm stainless steel bolts
* 2 x 10mm 190mm long zinc plated threaded rod (as no Bolts Long enuf)
*2x 10mm 200mm long zinc plated threaded rod (as no Bolts Long enuf)
*12x 10mm nyloc stainless stell nuts
also got 24 stainless steel washers (altho i did re use some of the orig washers as the front mounts didnt have enuf thread cumin thru

the process of lifting the body is preety easy just remove all the bolts from their holes and using a trolley jack and a bit of 2x4 jack up any area surrounding the mounts and slide the block in
then slide your b9olt in complete with washers and nut
nip up the nuts until the nyloc is on the bolt and move on to the opposite side of the car
i jacked up the rear of the car first then the front and then middle and then the rest of the mounts untill all blocks were in
as usual check for any wires and hoses that arent long enuf
the only hose i had to lenghten was the hose running up next to the brake booster i just re used my breather hose as an extension
i decided to drop my cowel down instead of the radiator
mine was tricky coz it was bent outta shape from the previous owner
just remove the fan and cowel line up the existing bolt holes and re drill exactly 50mm higher
slide back in then check for fan fouling then put the lot back in and tighten
as for the g/box mine didnt foul anywhere but my t/case shifter did
i had to cut out around 30mm off rom the back of the hole and around 15mm from each side
as yet i havent decided what to do with the rubber boot as it doesnt stretch enuf but it does fit
when i cut the hole out the existing captive bolts had to go so i just used PK screws to re attach the boot and support frame
besides from that the steering shaft slipped down enuf and the brake lines barely moved at all
just note that when u undo the bolt for the clamp for the steering shaft be careful as they r easily stripped
i had to put in a smaller bolt and nuts as the old one didnt go in properly
umm thats it i think
i just have to put me 35's on and im set
if u have any questions just ask

Don't go any higher if you still want to take it bush
unless you make it wider. You'll see what I mean when you
go wheeling, Take it slow till you get used to it.
