BL on airbagged vehicles?

Post by Impulsive »

Hi all,

I recall reading once upon a time in a thread long long ago (on here) that airbag equipped cars couldn't be body lifted, yet I've seen a couple in various places that had been lifted. Apparently it has something to do with the airbag actuators (in the bumpers?).

Can anyone in the know comment on whether this is true, or if it is possible, and where the airbag actuators are on the car - and what precautions may have to be taken to avoid unintentional airbag inflation.

In particular, I'm interested in updating my Vitara and with a kiddy I'm bound to this time get a 4 door one, so it will most likely be the very late 90's (and into 2000's) model with the headlights with the rounded top.

Some airbagged cars can be body lifted (SRS air bags not fully sick ones)

Not sure on actuall applications though, I think Jimny's can.
