I have gone down the path of the weber dgav 32/36 install on a stock 1.3L sierra (96). This was done cause the old carby needed a rebuild and thought it was a good time for an upgrade.

I have installed the adaptor plate, carby, air filter, hoses etc. and when the engine was started it idled very roughly (ie cycling between 1800 and 200 RPM every few seconds). I am thinking this could be a vacuum leak, but dont know how to track this down. any suggestions for finding a vacuum leak or where to start looking?

Also wondering what people have done with the EGR valve? at the moment i have the egr valve plugged, the two vacuum hoses connected to the temp switch at the thermostat housing are plugged, and the two vacuum ports in the intake manifold just next to the little solenoid vacuum switching (green plug) thing are also plugged (just forward of center on the manifold). Is this setup ok? And if the EGR valve is to connected properly how should this be done?

Thanks heaps!

A way of finding a vacum leak is to get an oxy torch and turn it on, slow, then poke it in and around the carby, plates, all the old tubes etc, when the engine revs up a bit, voila, your leak.

To check for a vacuum leak spray aerostart around the manafold and base of the carby, if it is leaking it will get sucked in and you will hear change in the motor.

Did you get the carby from GEM off ebay, I got mine off him and it was way too lean. He was a dick and wouldnt sell me the jets to fix it because he wouldnt admit it could be wrong. Repco can get you jets from redline. get the weber sierra manual, I think there i one at suzukiinfo, it tells ou how to rejet it and the recomended jets.

When you get that right you should put extractors on, they let my 1.3 rev out heaps smoother.

thanks for that ill try using the aerostart. If i put extractors on after getting the jetting right wont that change the setup a bit?

just dont blow yourself up
I saw a mechanic mate of mine nearly remove his hair about two weeks ago whe he sprayed carby cleaner (also works well) on a falcon motor that also had a shorting spark lead that wasn't all that obvious at the time.
Farkin funny and farking big fire ball scared the shit out of mate though
keep it away from leads
cheers andrew
