Take input shaft and bell housing from 4sp l28 and change over to 5sp bolt straight in, will still pick up rear g/box mounts..
Makes bugger all differance to fuel econo.

What i plan to do is use parts from a five spd to convert the l28 4spd to a 5spd
The donor 5spd has a major crack in the case an the tranfer but the internals are still excellent

Yeah the 5th gear sandwich plate will bolt to the 4sp along with the selectors just time that is needed. ... But if the 5th gear sandwich plate between the g/box and transfer is cracked ur up shitters ditch.

The transfers are the same for both boxes and will interchange fine.

Like i said you dont gain much with an L28, so i went turbo diesel

Was hoping i could do the same as the toyota box
All i had to do with it was get the appropriate gears an selectors an fit them to the back of the cluster an the output shaft along with changing the shift shafts
almost all the conversion is inside housing between the g/box and xfer
