Hi all,
I am owner of GV 3 door LHD 2001 with J20A engine, manual transmission and I have front carrier aluminium broken.
I want to replace it by a more solid carrier.
therefore which model of Vitara / GV have steel solid axle ( housing and third member ) ?
which gear ratio ?
thank you.

usually the manual v6's have the cast steel housing, but suzuki did all sorts of things. ratio could be a problem too as overseas markets had different gear. here the v6's generaly are 4.3 geared, but we also have 4.6 and 4.8 too.

As mentioned, the V6 manuals have the steel housing but as you're in Europe you can also look for one from a diesel engined GV. The later autos also got them, around '03 I think. The XL-7 is also a source ...... BUT they have a different mount to the crossmember so it will require a small amount of fabrication to use.

Get an auto v6 diff from a late grandy say 2005 they are metal, will need to get the mounts with it as they changed with the later grandys. If you are chasing wreckers get them to count teeth first, Im going through getting wrong ratios from the east coast wreckers at the moment. hopefully 4th time lucky at the moment, I hope.
Man v6 4.3
Auto v6 and J20 4.875
1.6 grand same as early vitara 5.2 something
