Safari Ditronic Systems
I was just curious if any one has heard anything about ditronic systems for electronically controled diesel engines. If they would be worth the money or cause other problems
03 turbo twin cab hilux + 85 xtra cab 253, Have i ever said i love lockers?
I'd also be interested in anyones experiences with these. I know a guy who has just had one of these http://www.tunit.com.au fitted and was amazed with the results. I was thinking of getting one and would be interested in hearing from someone who's had one for a while. What sort of increases are the 'average' over time. They claim 30% torque increase.
Cheers,
Freddy

Re: Safari Ditronic Systems
theres a squillion threads around the net on them, they seem to work well, dont think Ive heard 1 bad report on them.
AFAIK they only work on turbo engines that have electronically controlled boost and just turn the boost up to give more power.
Interesting wording from the Tunit site:
Interesting wording from the Tunit site:
The turbo boost pressure is not altered (on turbo models) by the Tunit and only naturally increases pro-rata to the enhanced values of the electronic diesel fuel injection system

I'm not sure about that. I'm sure they can be fitted to any efi diesel regardless of turbo (see http://www.tunit.com.au/_vehicle_search.php)
I think they work by real time modification of the electronic diesel injection system rather than changing the turbo boost if it is a turbo diesel. I'll email them for more info.

Ok I called and they said that they work on any EFI diesel but it just so happens that all the EFI diesels sold in OZ, except one, are turbo models. They don't directly effect the turbo but work on the injectors via the electronic injection system.
I'll probably take my Pajero down to Berrima to get one fitted soon. I'll let you know the results.

Freddy
