Woohoo. It's only taken me a couple of years to get around to getting it fixed but finally the old Roza has stopped overheating.
I replaced the thermostat and alternator/waterpump belt. I also took the fan clutch apart again and filled it with another tub of Toyota goo.
Well something worked as I took it for a drive highway, traffic, uphill and it never went past half way. When cruising it actually cooled down to a fair bit less than half which it hasn't done in years.
Now to fix the waterpump belt sqeal as I must have it too loose.

Yep. I'm up for a drive in the mud now if it hasn't all gone with the nice weather.
I'm onto the next problem now which is a short somewhere in the courtesy light circuit. When the pressel switch on the door is pressed it makes a click like a relay flicking up in the drivers area. If you don't turn off all the lamps it keeps clicking and drains power from the battery immediatley so you can't start the car.
Any ideas?

I took it to get the A/C regassed today and the sparky had a look and told me that the alarm (which I pulled the fuse out of ages ago) was shorting and making the relay flicking noise. It also was buggering up the ignition and is wired to the door pressel switches. He said for $50 he'd pull it all out so I told him to leave it and I'll do it myself.
The bad news is my A/C compressor has seized and needs to be replaced.

The good news is its a standard Daihatsu fitment. Any Applause or Charade with A/C has exactly that compressor.
Last one I bought from Centre Rd self serve wreckers cost in the vicinity of $30.
P.S. They make lousy air compressors, they run dry and then seize up no matter how complex an oil separator / return system you install.
