"If it ain't broken, smash it harder, then make it stronger!"
Re: RE
I think you "could".
They share the same crank sprocket if I am not mistaken. You would need a new timing belt obviously. You will also need a whole new timing setup, since they use the hydro tensioner. Correct me if I am wrong please.
I dont think you will get the HP you want out of it, and it wont be cost effective.
Also you will be taking a Non interference engine and turning it into an interference one.
Also didnt the later models do away with the distributer? Is your distributor housing going to bolt on to the 24v heads? If not your wasting your time.

Yeah they did do away with the dizzy, I'm sure it will bolt on but you would need the ECU and all of the top end of the 24 valve. All for a 16Kw and 30Nm increase may not be cost effective unless you can get a 2nd hand motor for bugger all and do most of the work yourself.
Noisey had his 3.0 V6 rebuilt and tickled and it goes VERY well with 33"s.

I just luv my "clacker Jabber"
Mike,
Probably the best place to start is see if the head gaskets are the same. That will at least tell you if all the galleries are going to line up. If they do the next thing I would be looking at is if the timings belts and stuff are the same. If you tell me what year model the respective engines were in the Pajero's I should be able to do a part number check for you tonight as I can't access my online parts catalouge here at the moment.
Cheers

1993 Triton V6 on the Build up.....not any more as I now have a Zook to play with.
Mike,
Bad news at this stage mate I check the aprt numbers for the head gaskets, lnlet maniofld and exhaust and they part numbers don't match fro the 12V to the 24V. You could probably still check but I don't think that it will work.
IF you want any more info let me know.
Cheers
