Hi, the other day my mates landcruiser diesel started blowing white smoke from the breather pipe....does this normally mean oil getting passed the rings in the piston?there is a new vehicle on the way and he wants to know how he can get this to stop until his new car gets thre?is there ay thicker oil that he can put in or something?
Thanks

Is he using any water?
I'd get a colling system pressure test done to make sure I hadn't done a head gasket

That's what I was thinking. White smoke, might just be a cracked head or head gasket
