whats the cheap & easy way to lift my nissan, i have a 2" spring lift but need that little bit more should i go to a 4" spring lift or a 2" body lift. what do i need to do a 4" spring lift or a body lift. pm me or send me a email at torana_1977@hotmail.com all advice will be helpful thanks

a 4 inch spring lift means you will have to get new coils (obviously) as well as longer shocks, caster correction bushes for the front as well as panhard rods to keep it all aligned properly. This is probably the basic bits for a 4 inch coil lift.

If you just add a 2 inch body lift, then you can buy a kit for that and put it in yourself. It is a bit of mucking around and probably a day or so work on your own.

The body lift would be the cheaper alternative, depends on what you want from your truck.

Remember body lift and suspension lift are desgned for 2 different results... Suspension lift will give you shit loads more than a body lift ever could.

what do you want from the lift...articulation or body clearance?

if you want flex and articulation, your money is better spent on a suspension lift kit but if you want swanky looks or body clearance then spend a few hundred bucks on a body lift.

bogged is right, it depends on what you want it to do

i dont want loks, i wanna be able to go off road an be able to get up hills with heaps of clearance. you guys have been a good help thanks. in the morning ile look around for a 4" lift kit.

yep, shane does know his stuff. have bought stuff from him before and been very happy with the product and advice.

I bought my GQ with the 4 inch lift and t works very well....well it does now that I have the procomps in there

no worrys but what i need to know is what are pan pods & stuff, this is the first time doing this so i need to ask some questions. sorry if there stupid ones, to do a 4" lift what do i need all up. i dont wanna cut corners because the truck will be a everyday driver & when i go off road i need it to perform well. ive seen other nissans with big lift kits, but they also have 33 or 35" tires & body lifts. i just wanna truck that i can take the family out, on or off road & not worry about transport or cops. like i said im new to this so sorry if ive gone on abit. but without the info ide be stuffed. so thanks to all who have helped.

I suggest you get the 2" flexy coils or if you are daring the 3" flexy coils if you don't want to be hassled by the boys in blue.

You won't need to get those pan pod thingos either.

shane is right, if you stick to a 2 inch lift then you just need new coils and shocks...nothing else. it isnt until you get up to around 4 inches or more that you will start to need panhard rods and castor correction stuff.

if you are just doing 'normal' offroading then a 2 inch lift will suffice. what size wheels are you thinking of using?

i have a 2" lift & the truck rides on 31x10.5 15 we went 4wding on the weekend but still i wasnt high enough for most of the tracks thats why i wanna know about a 4" kit. i was just gonna buy 40ml body blocks & put them in. cheap & easy

which parts of your truck wasnt high enough? body lift may not fix what you want. if you were getting caught under the diffs or chassis then a BL is not going to help but if te body was getting caught then it will.

Agree - 33's will perform well and your 2" lift should be enough (some trucks are different). You might get rubbing at the top of the rear wheel arches but that should be all.

Bull bar and tow bar are connected to the chassis so you will also have to mod them to get the clearance you are after. While you are at it get happy with the grinder. :cool:

well, that's certainly not a 'standard' look :roll:

when I bought my GQ I was told it had the same lift and it looked nothing like that. Obviously there are 4 inch lifts and 4 inch lifts and mine wasnt either :?

Hmmm.... judging by that photo mine has sagged quite a bit and the coils are only 2 months old! I sit the same ride height with a 2" body lift aswell as a 4" spring and new 33's???

Stock is about 60-65mm if you measure inside the front coils between the bump stop at the top and the steel base plate at the bottom. You can work out your lift from there.

Its sitting at 160mm... pretty much spot on 4" lift! That shot must have been when the coils spankin new!

this is my '4 inch lift' which looks more like a 2 or 3 inch lift. I measured the front bump stops and there is a 190mm gap between them????

Very spanking new. I've just been out and measured, and there's ~200 mm in the front between bumpstops. Those front springs are heavy enough for a steel bar, winch and dual batteries, none of which are in/on yet. The rear was spec'ed for the lpg tank and a light load which is all that's in it in that shot..

I'm sorta hoping it does sag a bit.. :oops:
