Side Rails or No Side Rails That Is The Qn?

Hey all as above. My truck is in having the sliders made and i was wondering what others oppinions are of side rail / scrub bars / bush bars. What ever you want to call them? Personally i like the look of them and like the fact they will protect the guards and the fibre glass flares from those little knocks. What do others think? Those who have them fitted to their trucks, what are the pros and cons?

Yes, they do stop rubbing, and deflect small trees etc.....but.......one real good landing on them or corner and they end up in the guard and may cause more damage than with out them.

they also do give the wings of the bullbar a bit more support in frontal hits. well, a small amount. depends on how theyre designed i guess.

I have them (ARB) but have found one side has started to bend up/in from rubbing along banks. Id imagine Brooksys are probably going to be stronger but there is always going to be a fare amount of unsupported length that your not going to get away from.

Yes a decent hit is going to push the rail into the guard, but think of it as being sacrificial to some extent, $200 worth of tube and welding, or $1500+ worth of panel beating/insurance excess and buggered front panels...?

They also make your car harder to polish/clean and sticks and crap can get caught up in between them, but it think all of the cons are out-wayed by the extra protection they offer to the guard area, and the looks aswell

x2. Ive had them on my 80 for years and have put them through their paces. Ive found that sticks/branches do get caught up in them and they do flex a bit when hit hard, but on the flip side if they weren't there when I have hit trees/embankments hard, there wouldnt be much left of my guards, let alone my flares. I reckon do it. I wouldnt think twice about putting them on again...
