long travel shocks what to get

Post by lux000 »

Hi there all,

I currently have rancho 999036xls in the front of my hilux with closed length of 537mm and open 918mm and they are limiting flex.

What are my options for a longer stoke shock ?

I dont mind modifying my towers to fit them in as they are far from standard now.

Almost nothing - you have 15" now and even the fox/king shocks top out at 16" from memory, so that's not going to help.

I'd be looking at moving the shocks to get them in a position where they don't have to move as far to get the same travel. If your bottom mount is stock 'lux, it's in about the worst place for travel - right out at the end of the axle and angled slightly in - when articulating, the shocks actually have to move further than the axle at the bumpstops, so you'll get a lot more out of your shocks if you can move the bottom mounts inboard a bit.

I cant really move the mounts in because the size of shock canister, i thought of trying that though.

Surely there has to be bigger shocks out there somewhere.
