lokrite lockers.........who has a story to tell? im contemplaiting getting one for the front of my cruiser but havent heard much of them. any help would be great.

Just wacked a lokrite in the rear of my 60series, it has made a huge difference, im very impressed, it makes some noises but hardly what youd call real bad or annoying, and thats what auto lockers will do.

yeah i have one in the front of my 75 series, it made a huge difference 4wdriving and for the dollars is an awesome mod if u cant afford a air locker like me. however, i found it was hard on the steering side of things. I have blown a power steering pump and the one in it now is on its way out cause it squeals something shocking. just been to mud bulls and music and was struggling big time with sharp turns in claw gorge and cruiser canyon and it would lock up on me. but i just live with it and i will probably invest in an air locker eventually for the convenience of the switch. after a hill climb it either disengaged itself or did a cv as a wheel was spinning so i didn't make the hill which sucked big time because my brother in law in his GU had ta pull me up it. but i spun the wheel later and the locker had something wrong with it cause it as hard to spin and was really jerky not like normal, so i still have to pull it apart and see wats going on. well yeah that my two cents anyway i still think they are worth it for the money tho

Got both front and rear in my Troopy no issues in 28k so far.
Mine are the Richmond Gears Powertrax No slips, much smoother operating. Got them from Rocky_Road in the US.

I ran Lockrites front and rear with 35" tires and 4:88 gears for years over the Rubicon. I never had a problem with them. I broke a rear R&P and the locker survived. I think 35" was pushing the lockers but they held. They can be a little noisy.
A couple of guys in my club run them with 38" tires at the Hammers. But they have been breaking them in the rear but not the front. YET

It will make a few metallic clunks here and there as it locks in and out, but not wat id call really bad or anything, im very impressed with it and for 499, ya cant beat it.

check out http://www.rocky-road.com/ thats where i got mine, when the $ was abit more stable i got both of mine delivered fpr just over 700, cant go wrong there, id recomend the american Richmond gear units, not the aussie units, ive got a powertrax in the rear, i believe all they have that differs is double the dog gears for locking and unlocking, making it a quieter smoother unit, in the rear of my bundy i hardly even notice it there, definately no clunking or banging!!, lockright for the fron though, to save that extra bit of cash, if not go powertrax front and rear, smooth sailing

your pump was either going to fail then and there, or it was on it's last legs and any extra strain sped up it's demise.
an arb would have seen it fail too. when they are engaged they are rougher on the steering a lunchbox locker.
gotoy, your statement is false... you can go plenty wrong with ARB's. some of us are fine with the slightly agricultural nature of them, for the savings, ease of use, and GREATER reliability (no airlines to snag, solenoids to fail, airlines to crimp/bend/stuffup, or O rings to fail...).
if you want to keep your rig open diffed on road, that's your call, but plenty of people can drive them with no adverse affect on handling. in fact, with the right driving style, they can improve the dynamics of the car. they are not for everybody, but neither are ARB's.
ARB's may "only" seem to cost more than double the price (i bought one for about $350 to my door when the dollar was stronger, so that's almost .25 the price) but you have the cost of compressor (not sure if air lines come with the diff centre, or if you have to buy them too), and the cost of getting it setup (anyone know how much they charge to fit them front and rear?), whereas i can pull both my centres (in a cruiser), install two lockrights, and reinstall both centres in about 2 hours, not rushing...
some of us would prefer to pocket the change (700 + $40 diff oil + 2 hours of time compared to 2500+ (depending on fitment costs))...

Yeah Bad Religion, fair call there mate i have seen some ripper arguments over lockrite and ARB lockers, and why? No real reason, whether it be the cost or the name brand who cares, its up to the individual and if it works for you, stick with it.
I must say i still to this day know more people with ARB lockers that have had faults than anyone has faulted lockrites or other auto lockers.
Im happy with my lockrite and i will swear by it till something goes wrong, till then, happy wheeling all!!

Yep, would have to agree there. Although i have, and still am fan of detroits, I can't say i was happy with the airlockers. I was talked into the air lockers from the detroits and after i sold the maverick, went back to detroits and autolockers. Put them in and forget them. I had seal problems, airline problems, compressor problems. Just my opinion though, but i couldn't spend to money on anther air locker, not worth the drama.
