3lt surf parts

a mate of mine just got a 3litre surf.
now the head is goneski.

anywhere anyone can recommend as a good surf wrecker or that has decent prices on surf heads for the 3litre Turbo diesel?

hes new to 4x4s so trying to help him out abit.

that would be the place to ask- as far as im aware, be VERY careful buying a 2nd hand head, and if you go new, make sure you get one from a reputable brand as some of them arent meeting minimum hardness specs even before installing!

As a former Surf owner and having gone through all the farken head dilemmas with those things, advise your mate to go with a new one, its worth the few extra bucks...

just wondering, is his auto? i heard the cracked heads(caused by overheating? im pretty sure) is more prevelant in the autos

Could be but everyone I know(at least half a dozen including myself) that have had the dreaded Surf head dramas have been in manuals also. It also seems to be far more prevelant in the 2.4's also more so than the 3 lt's. It all boils down to the shitty design and the complete lack of maintenence in the homeland i believe....

2.4s crack heads, 3.0s just get a tad warm.

and yeah, id say its coz the japs drive em ahrd and never do anything in the way of maintenance to em
