Softop care

Post by madda »

I have been looking at the bestop website and here about what to put on the softop to keep it in good condition, other than soapy water what is the best thing to use to keep it new? like an armorall or vinyl cleaner?

A garage...

U.V light is what makes them hard and crack.
Keep it in a dark garage when not in use and it will last for years.

Are there any reasonably priced conditioners etc to use on the soft tops? I'm looking at getting a new top soon as my current one is stuffed but I have nowhere shady to park.

Obviously the sun is going to kill the top, but something to put on it to maybe extend its life a little longer would be good.

hi mate
i put mine under a car cover when it is not in use and i can be bothered putting it on but when i wash it i put armorall protectant (original) with the orange label. i found that it keeps it shiny and stops it drying out from uv. (have uv reflector in it)

ive never really looked after my soft top and it sits outside all the time and it is still awesome 4 years and counting.

its because it is an austops one and is made out of awesome stuff, uv marine grade all of the above.

Any vinyl protectant like amourall etc would help them go the distance longer.
