update on the is my 2 h seized
well my mechanic popped over to suss my car again today,he tested my starter from the wreckers and found it to be buggered,he tryed to turn enginge over manually using a screw driver in the flywheel, said even though diesels are harder to turn over manually he couldnt get it to budge,am i right in thinking thats an odd way to manually turn a car over,i might go get a huge socket from hardware store and try turning the crank manually as well just to be sure, his words were id say its seized as i couldnt turn it over by the flywhhel teeth with a screwdriver ,i turned the fj60 over with the jack stuff and found even that to take some effort,so imagine a diesel to require some turning pressure, but im starting to think that perhaps i have seized it
now if so what to do,350 chev or take a gamble on a cheap 2nd hand 2h,i have 5 land cruisers,1 being my fj60 everyday car,a hj 45 with 350 chev and turbo 400 auto,a mid to late 60,s fj40 with 327 chev and original 3 speed manual, the hj 60 of course and the bj42 rusted out parts car
apart from the fj 60 and the hj 60,the others arent registered,im leaning towards stripping the hj 60 back, fixing rust, maybe a ute chop of some description and slotting the 350 chev in and using the 5 speed thats in it,then use the 400 auto from the ute in the shorty, decisions time here,i hate the lack of leg room in the 45 and the 60 is alot more comfy, extra cab uterised 60 with the 350 chev sounds like fun, homework time me thinks
anyone have a bellhousing for a chev to 2h,5 speed oh and a nine inch grinder, paul wolf and g loomis its all your fault

Was going to find the old post tonight and find out how things were going.
Going off memory, you turned the engine over by cluth on the road. To me this isn't seized.
To find out, I'd remove either the injecotrs or the glow plugs and turn over by hand.
The fact the new starter motor is rat shit, to me, Wouldn't exclude the motor being seized.
Have you got a diesel compresson tester?
If not you can get them reasonably cheap off ebay etc <$100 normally.
Could be a good investment. try it. Also I'd get a new starter and wire it up without putting it into the flywheel and test it. Prove eit works then fit the bastard.
Too many things are inconsistant so far in your posts.
I wouldn't write off your engine yet. My money...off your posts, is still on a dodgy fuel system and stuff starter (as proved by your mech mate, and turning over a diesel engine by screwdrive??????? wouldn't put money on that to state a siezed engine)

Petrol compression pressures- 140-160psi.
Diesel compression pressures - 350-400psi.
Your not turning that over with a screwdriver.
If your trying to isolate a fuel issue, get a CLEAN container, filter some diesel into it, bung a bit of hose into it, hook the hose to the feed line of your injector pump, chuck on a working starter motor and see if it will fire.
That will exclude the whole filter and pickup systems from the equation, and will narrow it down to an injector pump failiure- because you'd have to be stupidly unlucky to kill 4 injectors at once- the old 2H will still fire up on 3 injectors!

You can turn 14 liter truck engins over easy as pie with a screw driver. you got to remember those pressure readings are at starter speed. at screwdriver speed you can even hear blow by coming around the pistons. No point buying a compression tester im a diesel mechanic an never nneded one to diagnose an engine there are better ways. I have been following this since it started and would love to have a look at but im too far away. Clutching it is not a good indication, you have to remember you got 2.5 ton on a 4:1 diff plus wat ever reduction you have in your gear box which is more torque than any starter motor will ever have. pull the sump off, look at the big ends mians if a bearing has spun (they dont have to run out of oil to spin a bearing) you will see a colour change on the caps while your there pressure test the COOLING system if there is water in a cylinder you will see it dribble down the cylinder. hope this makes sence and helps you out a bit GL with it.

or park the car on a slight hill, put it in 5th and then push on the bullbar
will not take much force at all to turn the motor over, and you will hear the blow-by as SIMMO said. Make sure someone is in the drivers seat ready with the e-brake incase it takes off tho.
I have done this to my HJ60 2H when a piston let go.

so there is still hope then, awsome, yeah the guy who services our cars is the hubby of one of my mums friends, not sure on his qualifications, and his explanation of what he did was rather odd in regards to the 2 h,i was telling him about how if it gets low oil pressure that it shuts off the engine and he looked at me funny and and said naah,im like,ok,i guess they wrote that up in the manual to trick people, lol
so does anyone know the size of the bolt on the front of the 2h that u manually turn it over with, thanks for everyones comments,i dont have a clue about diesels, not that im great with petrol engines either, lol, but my thoughts when it did conk out on me were fuel related issues,as previous owner had the same issue apparently where it would shut of on him, also the goose had taken the water seperator off the chassis so just had a hose running straight through, any one know of any diesel savyy mechanics down on the mornington peninsula,as this has got me stuffed

if you can get a screw driver on the ring gear and you cant turn over pull the sump off it will be clear where the problem is or just drop the first half a liter of engin oil.

well the starter is on the floor in the car ready to be returned to the wreckers and get my money back,it was the only 2h starter they had available,so i might go up to all wheel drive spares and get one off them.
my main thing is if it was a fuel related problem the car would still try to turn over, like a car with no petrol left, just wont fire, but i guess i may have 2 stuffed starters, just sounds to easy, simmo should i be able to turn it over by the ring gear?
also when i was being towed and dropped the clutch, and it was rolling in gear, cant seized engines still do that, say clutch slippage or something, when the car was running at the time of it dieng on me,it was going perfectly, then started running rough till it stalled on me,so i pulled over, when i started it up again it ran normal,so i kept going again, say 2 hundred metres then it went erratic again, then conked out,i pulled over once more, then started it up,again it went fine on start up,so off i went, around 2 to 3 hundred metres again before it started running eratticly, then cutting out once more,so i pulled over, after pulling over it tryed to start up once but was like the battery didnt have the strength to start it,then after that i just got the clicks, battery in it is a week old, well was at the time,i also tryed using a brand new battery out of my 45,same thing just clicked, and both batterys under the hood were tested as fine, also when trying to start car after the last time it conked out in frustration i held the key on start and burnt the wiring insulation on the original starter,it smoked up a treat for a minute or so

it should turn over easy. im not saying it is or isnt siezed but the story sounds familiar to others i have heard when it turned out to be spun bearings like shadow said put it in 5th and rock it it will turn easy (try it on one of your other landcruisers)
