Hi Guys

I've got a DTS kit fitted to my 94 TD42 Coil Cab that has just had a full engine and fuel pump rebuild 7000km ago and am wondering what sort of boost should I be looking to run when the car gets Dyno'ed in a couple of weeks. The only mods above the standard DTS kit which is fitted is a 3" dump and 3" Mandrel Bent Straight through exhaust. Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

i have the same kit, just on a 360k motor, i had mine put on at 310k's, at the moment i have a 2.5" exhaust, it was tuned with 11psi, i changed all ther intake pipework, and it seems to sit on 12 psi when the throttle is open, ill add a 3" exhaust later and get it retuned,

is it intercooled? anything over about 10 psi non intercooled the intake temps are gunna be up a bit high anyway.. It really depends how much power you want to make and where you want to make it. Sure you might make good power on the dyno running big boost but it will be like driving an N/A untill you get it reving. I would say run about 12 pound with a good intercooler and tune to suit.. if you want to go any higher than that then you will have to start looking at pump mods ect.. to keep the fuel up to it. Just make sure you keep an eye on the pyro temps. Also i believe some of the older td42's have lighter pistons and cant handle as much boost.

The motor that's in my truck has the heavier pistons and rods.

Pretty sure the heavier pistons were used in vehicles from 88-92?
and from 92 onwards on the turbo one's. Non turbo from 92 had the lighter pistons.

Hi Dicko,i had a dts kit fitted to my old 91 GQ with 160,000.Was fitted and tuned by Berrima diesel and ran 12psi,no I/C.Not sure what egt's were but it went really well,i loved it.Had no dramas at all.Had it for a few years and it got stolen with it and it was still going hard when it did.Cheers.

Hi Dicko,i forgot to mention that it did get a flat spot higher in the rev range every now and then but i then fitted an electric fuel pump just after the tank and it fixed the problem.I thought it actually went better after i fitted it.Cheers.

I've seen the pistons and rods and they're definately different to the 95 onwards TD42's.
