40 series brake switch

Hey i have a 78 fj40 the brake switch has 4 wires on it two green and white and 2 red and white the green are for the brake lights but what are the red wires for, and are they a switching a neg? do i need these wires connected, cheers.

is this for the brake indicator light on the dash for low brake fluid or for the hand brake?

I have a wiring diagram online but its for a BJ42.. if you think it would help let me know and i'll post up the link for you.

Its the switch on the foot pedal brake and sure ill have a look at the wiring diagram and see if it shows four wires at the switch. cheers
