Twice in the last week my swb gq has slowly died whilst driving along.
after pulling over it usually starts after one or two goes - the car itself feels like it has lost some power overall - alternator problem ?
should i go ahead and replace the alternator straight up ?...
any advice would be appreciated - thanks.

GQ problem when driving
if the alt isn't charging the charge light should come on, also if the alt is the cause, it will be indirect - eg: the alt wont charge the battery and the voltage will drop to a point where injection/ignition/fuel pumps won't function, the fact that you can start it after you pull over could suggest your charging system is fine - as above, need more info.
Other halfs 87 corolla stopped on the way to work on me the other day, just as though someone turned the key off, had power to the coil but no spark - i assumed coil or module, turned out the wire from the coil to the module (in the dizzy) had rubbed on the module cover just enough to short it out, so could be something simple, it was also intermittant.
