side steps, info.
side steps, info.
hey yeah i was just wondering how people have done side steps on their sierra? couldnt find anything on it in the bible so wondering if people could post some pics of how they have made their steps and where it bolts on. thanks.
Re: side steps, info.
I'm going to hope you mean "sliders" because sidesteps don't belong on a 4WD.VaJJ wrote:blah blah side steps.... couldnt find anything on it in the bible thanks.
You'll find lots of info on sliders, there's lots of ways to do them.
Here's some I made. They protect the sills but they're no good as steps.

oh ok, havent really heard much of sliders i must say but then again i would be considered new to 4wding but grew up on a farm near Mudgee so have learnt a ew things over the years but only now actually learning more technical things for myself.
ive seen quite a few sierras with sidesteps but they were more city cars.
so welding to the chassis doesnt vid the structural integrity or anything? i guess it depends on how good of a job you do but for getting a roady does it make much difference? really want to get more into metal fabricating.
thanks

They're nicely fabricated zookprojectfnq, but you've added some pretty big anchors under the chassis.
I don't have any paint under my chassis, and I haven't seen a 1.3 that goes off road with a straight gearbox crossmember, so I'd suggest those lugs under the chassis are going to cost some capability.
Everyone to their own, I don't really value my sills (or panels in general) so I'd never add something under the car to protect panels that cost me capability, which is why the grey car's sliders were built the way they were.
