Seirra to Hilux Driveshaft Adapter

Hi
I have a short wheel base sierra with lux diffs. I have two double cardon shafts, one for the rear one for the front. Does anyone know some where thats makes an adapter that will match the double cardon bolt pattern to the sierra bolt patters on the t-case.

Just re-drill the zook flange to suit the lux shaft mate.. thats what i've done, pretty sure thats what everyone has done!
F&R ARB air lockers, lux diffs, 4 link coil rear, drop shackles, inboarded ranchos, stage 4 reduction gears, 35" silverstones, 9500 winch, RUF, 1.6 EFI, swimming goggles

but what about the drum break on the back of the t-case? can i just re-drill that?

No. YOu will need to make an adapter for that, or ditch the t-case drum and run your h-brake to the lux drums.

My advice on the rear one, is to get the flange that goes between the two half's of a hilux rear shaft. This flange has the correct bolt patern for the hilux carden shaft. Now take it to someone with a lathe and have them machine down the spigot that pokes out so that it fits firmly into the output of the brake transfer/drum. Now put this machined flange onto the output, but put the shaft holes inbetween the original holes. Drill one hole through your drum with a 3/8" drill bit. Fit a 3/8" UNC bolt through this hole from the inside, fit a nut and tension. The reason for using this size bolt is that the head is the perfect size to "lock" against the inner flange inside the drum so the bolt will not turn when tensioned. Once you have done the first bolt up, you can drill the other three holes the same way. This gives you the correct spacing without silly measuring. Once all bolts are fitted, refit dum and connect tailshaft. Should work for you as it did for me :D

That sounds heaps good thanks. What did you do about the front shaft? I dont think the flange is big enough to re-drill for the lux bolt pattern.

Made my own adaptor similar to what is on the rear. Had to machine it from scratch. Made the spigot that pokes out to suit the zuk flange, then made the female spigot hole to match the hilux shaft. Rather than bolting the whole lot together, I taped the threads into the adaptor. It is about 12mm thick so there was enough room to put 8mm bolts in from the transfer side and 10mm bolts in from the tailshaft side. Just make sure when drilling holes to always drill/tap one hole, bolt it up tight then do the other three. That way you will never end up with one or more holes out of place good luck!! :armsup:

That is basically what I ended up with on the front shaft, and as 11_evl sig. says "BUILT not bought" :finger:
BTW I get much more satisfaction out of making anything for myself rather than paying someone else to do what I can do.

you could just redril the lux pinion flange to suit the zook shaft.

Thats what i did at first, still have in the front, than i made up a hilux shaft for the rear. obviously it bolted to the diff being lux diffs and i used above adaptor to the transfer
