Dropped 5th gear in the gearbox for my hilux on the weekend and was wandering whats a good fix to put it back on and get it to stay there. This is the third time this has happened and I have tried using loctite and replaced the circlip every time I have repaired it, there is no obvious damage to the shaft and the gear seems to be a tight fit still.
Cheers in advance for any help Bat

Weld the circlip to the shaft. Seriously! Its the only way it will stay on. Also try not to labour the vehicle in 5th. Your problem is quite common on hilux's that do a lot of towing in 5th gear. Its not good for them.
The later model G52 has a nut to hold 5th on and i have repaired these in the past for the same reason.
