NEED ADVICE ... RV6 Motor options..... Bottom End Gone ???
Hey all,
Just been offered a 4Runner RV6 cheap for 2k, its good except have been told that the bottom end is about to go.
So my question is what are my options?
does anyone know of a cheap RV6 motor, maybe from a conversion or something?
can i put the 22r or 3y onto the Rv6 5speed box?
or lastly commo v6 converson?
thanks in advance guys ....

I beleive the RV6 motor is a 3VZ, 3 litre V6 correct?
In that case fit a 5 VZ out of a prado or hilux, 2002 - 2004 models.
One of the blokes on 4x4 action is just finishing off the very same conversion on his 4 runner.
VRYNYS his name is or something similar.
the same engine blokc design but better engine.
you can pick one up for 2-2500grand.
just get a decent set of extractors on it once done and you'll be rapt.

It's a 3VZE, an ok offroad engine and sorta ok road engine.
Forget rebuilding one, too expensive.
IMO a 308 is an econimical conversion, but engineering a carbied motor is basically impossible.
The commo V6 will chew fuel big time I here.
The Prado motor may be good too but I am not sure if it will be a real easy wiring job or not.
Cheers

could replace with diesel, sell the v6 heads....remember u r getting an independant front vehicle, so it will need heaps spent to make it go places. 80 series is cheaper and go bush as is...so do GU's, discos, yada yada....lexus v8 has been done b4...i would have thought the dunnydore v6 would rock in there....
Confucious say...man who argue with idiot, worserer himself
3vze are thirsty little buggers for what they are.
go v8 because you can inj holden or lexus cheap enough easy parts lots of conversions available.
BUT......... i know of one for sale if you do stick with it(3vze)

Keep it shiny side up!
Now doing general fab work and painting
trays, trailers, engine swaps on request, some tube work, silo section sliders, rust repairs, ute chops etc

Why would you want to go a V8 when the 5VZ would bolt straight in, give you more torque and performance than you currently have, the wiring would not be that much different, and you can slap a blower on it later if you wanna go nuts.
The 5VZ is the same block design as the Lexus V8 anyway, minus 2 cylinders, they share the 6 bolt main deign and are bullet proof.
if you fit a lexus v8, you'll need custom engine mounts, custom wiring loom, a different bellhousing, and probably have to upgrade the radiator aswell....read dollars.
bang for your buck cant go past the 5vz....check that thread on 4x4 action I mentioned earlier and make up your mind then.

main point was both would need engineers and who doesnt want a v8
the 5vz is an excellent option tho prob be eaiser on engineering too truth be told
