Variable intermittent wipers

Post by flyology »

Does anyone know what model toyotas came with this option/feature, and if it is possible to adapt it to a 60 series cruiser? Or the whereabouts of a universal kit I can purchase for my 60 series? with the rain up here in the north it is a useful feature to have on a vehicle......

thanks,

MB

I seem to recall a jaycar kit being available - may be an easier option. There's not much to it - basically just a capacitor and a pot i think?

if you have basic electronics skillz, you could build:

Dick Smith and Jaycar used to sell a couple of kits that were published in Silicon Chip, but I think the most recent one was about 1990. give that circuit a shot - print it and take it in to Jaycar and hopefully you'll find a helpful nerd. even if you have to buy a soldering iron, the whole lot shouldn't cost more than $60ish. you could build the whole thig on a breadboard 5x5 cm, put the variable resistor on wires and mount it on the dash, tuck the rest up behind the dash

I thought the late model 60 series had variable speed wipers... It was definitely available on 75 and 40 series. (40 series has the switch on the dash)
