Just got back from Aus Short Coarse Track building days.

Post by RUFF »

Just went up to Landcruiser Mountain Park yesterday arvo and this morning to see how Glen was going with the Track building up ther for this years rounds of the Australian Short Course Championships and i have to say from what i saw im not even sure if i have the balls to drive some of them hills.
Big Red was putting in an awsome effort helping out up there dragging all the logs down to the course for the excavator to place on the hill climbs.
This is nothing like Black Duck Valley there are heaps more spectator area and a lot more rock so should make for a real good spectator and driver event.
It looks like Glen is going to have an even bigger success with this series of the Short Coarse and i cant wait to get my rig back on the road and get up to this awsome event.

Stupid me left my camera in our tow vehicle and got no spy pics so looks like you will all have to make a trip up in March and check it out yourself.

Oh yeah i forgot.

V8Zuki Rolled farward down a hill that a hyundai excel could have driven :finger:

I didnt see it but i hear it was some funny shiat. They then had to roll him all the way over the other way just to get it back on its wheels.
I dont think anyone was hurt but the windscreen frame got a little bent but thats nothing Mick cant fix.
From all acounts he put on a good show

there was also a rocky ute that had a little lie down.
ruffs right about the gully below the dam, huge area to drive in and spectators can get real close to the action [just above the tracks ] so should be popular.
one section shaped like a dog bowl has me worried, i reckon the GU will spear straight into the bottom and stay there, its about a car length vertical and about 3/4 of a car length across and very steep to get out, will have to cut the end of my tray off soon
i dont think i'll need a seatbelt for that bit as the "pucker factor" will hold me in place

things like this may happen in the new track.

The entry point for one track is about 20mtrs starting with a gentle slope about 30% of the way down is a vertical drop of about 5mtrs finishing with a large log placed about 4mtrs form the bottom. rear wheel ballet will happen here.

thats all the info I'll give you at the moment.

So long as it's only rear wheels ballet Glen, I don't wanna have to pick up too many cars. Nice lack of info too mate, keep 'em guessing! From what I saw of the course when I left, it should sort out the soldiers from the little boys. Can't wait.

antt, it's on the 1st & 2nd of March. I'm not exactly sure of spectator costs for the weekend, but I'm sure v8grunt will post that info soon. I would imagine it's just normal park fees that Alben charges all the time.
Cheers, hope to see you there.

The spectator entry price is normal park fees and the local ses will be catering for the spectators.

just got home from LMP, we have set up another 3 tracks for the comp.

2 new for modified and open modified and 1 more standard track

the 2 for modified are rock tracks with some very testing obslicles, the open class will have some good rock to strut your stuff on.

the standard track has a combination of rock and climbs and will be the hardest of all the standard tracks.

we will put in a standard track with the modified in the gorge area and we may run the standards saturday night if the track is finished on time.

had a sneek look at the two new modified tracks on the weekend, both are gully runs over natural terrain and should be pretty hard over some big rocks, at least the rocks look like they wont move...lookin good :D

The last time I spoke to Alben, they'd had about three inches. But that was a few weeks ago at the winch challenge, so I don't know if they've had any more since then.

thanks marshy, i was up there the week before the winch challenge and even though monsildale [over the hill] copped a bit nothing happened at cruiser park.
hopefully the rain has washed some of the loose stuff off the tracks.
