hilux diff conversion
hi i know most of you guys arnt into little rice burners but if there is any one who can help me with some info. just woundering im using a 2wd 76 77 78 hilux diff for a diff conversion are the diffs in 2wd hilux the same as the 4wd hilux if not do the centers interchange from the 4wd to the 2wd ones and if so do the axles from the 2wd fit into the 4wd center. Any info is good info. thanks
or get hiace van, 4.875 or 5.29. then get the pass side tube cut down by 25-30mm, there is plenty of spline so just trim it the same. this actually gets the pinion closer to the center of the car as well. and gets the track width perfect to run 7" wide ford pattern rims.

A detroit locker is just a type/brand of locker, or more accurately un-locker. It basically locks both half-shafts together until you turn a corner when one wheel needs to go faster than the other, then it automatically unlocks the halfshafts and they function like a normal diff.
Pretty much anyone who knows about diffs can install one, best to just take the centre into a 4x4 shop and get them to do it if you dont know what you are doing.
Also there are many other types and brands of locker you can use, especially for a popular diff like from a hilux.
