hilux diff conversion

hi i know most of you guys arnt into little rice burners but if there is any one who can help me with some info. just woundering im using a 2wd 76 77 78 hilux diff for a diff conversion are the diffs in 2wd hilux the same as the 4wd hilux if not do the centers interchange from the 4wd to the 2wd ones and if so do the axles from the 2wd fit into the 4wd center. Any info is good info. thanks

as far as i no they are all interchangable. i got a 5 std lux diff inmy road car. its using 4wd lux diff center

the centers will swap but thats about all brakes axles studpatern and heeps more diffrent why use this diff in a hilux 4wd any way

mate i got one out off a very early 2wd lux that was in my capri , it is the smalliest lux diff u can get so i was told by some mazda boys who use them in r 100 mazda's, it 5 stud ford pattern

man i think it came out off a tray back 74 / 76 model it is the shortest lux diff housing . its complete with 4.3 centre

or get hiace van, 4.875 or 5.29. then get the pass side tube cut down by 25-30mm, there is plenty of spline so just trim it the same. this actually gets the pinion closer to the center of the car as well. and gets the track width perfect to run 7" wide ford pattern rims.

hay humphey yhar ill take it how mutch do you want for it, is it LSD. what suburb you in. thanks
also just woundering if anyone knows what modle hilux came out with LSD centers or is there a number or code stamped on the center to let people know witch ones are LSD and witch ones arnt. is there a simaler thing to let you know what ratio thay are. any infos good info. thanks guys

Lux LSDs are pretty cruddy IMO, look for a proper detroit or something.

this is a dum question but is a detorit locker something you can pay to get done at a shop or what ive never hurd of it. thanks

A detroit locker is just a type/brand of locker, or more accurately un-locker. It basically locks both half-shafts together until you turn a corner when one wheel needs to go faster than the other, then it automatically unlocks the halfshafts and they function like a normal diff.
Pretty much anyone who knows about diffs can install one, best to just take the centre into a 4x4 shop and get them to do it if you dont know what you are doing.
Also there are many other types and brands of locker you can use, especially for a popular diff like from a hilux.

man i got it 2 years back .looking for $350 for it , got a shed near the go kart track in hervey bay . no lsd. can weld one up for u , turn it into a locker
