gday fellas
well im startin to seriously think about doing the ute up for OBC and other similar events. in regards to engine upgrades etc what is the main go? i figure bigger turbo would be the main one but what to get is another thing. had a look on garrett website and theres about a million different models. is there a specific type i should be aiming for? how much am i looking at for just the turbo itself? the utes 04 model should i look at pissing off some of the electonic shit for the fuel pump ect and run mech one. what sort of injectors should i upgrade to. all help would be appreciated hoping to get out on the scene by 2010. makes it a bit hard being in WA with such a small comp scene.
had a bit of a seach on the bible but couldnt find anything specific to what i want.
cheers

have you actually bothered to look at what it does & how it does it?

why do you think the ones that are fitted wont be up to the job after a burst pressure increase?
if you want 'better' injectors what other things will you be doing to take advantage of this?

Get a petrol V8, engine weighs less, more power and less heat issues.

Plenty of things can be done, like upgrading to a different turbo that will spool earlier etc,the pump can be changed for an earlier type without the TCV but the engine light will be on all the time.
Are you upgarding the intercooler??.
We are currently trialling a pump and turbo setup on a comp truck with a 12mm head and rotor and a modified mitsubushi TD05 that should yield some good results and we are in WA.
Pm me for more details if you like.

I have done heaps of mods to my GQ, wich is a 2.8TD by the way, and running bigger pump(12mm), a lot of custom stuff made, + gas injection, water/meth injection. The turbo used is a GT2871.86AR.
Am about to do much of the same mods to my LC80 4.2TD, and the turbo I have bought is a Garrett GT3071 with external wastegate. You need a big turbo in order to make power higher up in the rev range, being a roller turbo helps spooling. A smaller turbo is all about low down torque and nothing else, leading to high EGT also.
