I am currently putting a gu turbo in a gq but am unsure were to run the oil pickup line,And the water pickup and retun lines can someone plz tell me or better show some photos of which route u have taken and were from cheers josh
Ah bummer.
The oil feed you could always take from the oil pressure sender via t-piece. I got a hose made up at pirtek, they have the t-piece too. Cost me $40.
That's what I did with mine as I couldn't get the "proper" oil feed bung out of the block.
Oil return will be easiest to put straight into the sump. Your local mechanic should be able to weld a fatting onto the sump within minutes.
You gotta take the sump off though..... not hard just get a new gasket.
Water you just use a t-piece from where the heater hose comes out of the thermostat housing.
For the water return I used the bung in the block on the passenger side all the way at the back. Maybe I'll post some pics anyway, might help a little.

With doing my turbo conversion, I am looking at putting a 't' piece in the oil feed line to the alternator driven vac pump and using that for oil feed, and just draining the oil back to the sump.
And I was just going to block off the water feed to the turbo, I have been reading the info on a kit that use garrett turbos and it said water cooling was not needed due to the cooler temps that diesel run at compared to petrol.

You can tap it out of the alternator, pretty much anywhere with good oil pressure.
Its not a great idea to tap it back into the alternator return though, as both of them trying to drain into that can cause hot spots, and back pressure on the turbo and makes it a bit smokey.

The oil return should go into the sump if you use a low mount turbo setup as the alternator drain is not low enough to gravity feed properly AFAIK.
Easy enough to get a bit of pipe welded onto the sump and you know it will be the best sulution.
As for water cooling, why not use it if you can? If your cooling system is up to scratch it shouldn't bother it.
The water lines are the easiest anyway as you can see from my pics.

I'm going to intercool mine too but I won't bother with the standard intercooler.... too much piping.
I will get the intercooler from oondy (Big O 4x4 I think) it's listed on ebay and cost $800 delivered incl. bonet scoop and fan/thermo switch etc..
And it's designed to drop straight onto the intake so no awkward piping.
I think you will only need an adapter to fit a silicon hose onto your GU factory turbo outlet.
Look into that mate
