every 4wd comes with problems which ones depend on the vehicle.

Do you mean the 3 litre or 3L (2.8 litre).

If you get a 3ltr (5L) make sure it has a turbo if touring. I suppose the same goes for 2.8D

If serviced regularly you shouldn't have prob.

the 3l (2.8 litre) is pre 97 and solid axel, the 5L is post 97 and independent front suspension.

they suit different needs. the ifs car will driver better, the solid axel will be tougher and more modifiable for hard off road. but ifs should suffice for a tourer.

both need a turbo to be nicer to drive a long distance.

look for:
leaky hubs
leaky power steering
cars with lots of underside damage from too much offroading
rust
people who dont service them - this it is advisable to buyn from someone who does oil every 5000k's or so.
overheating
worn uni's and center bearings
cracked chassis near the steering box
drag links wear

etc etc the list of stuff is kind of endless but there are a few to check out for.

if your not sure just get a 4wd shoop to check it out costs a few 00's but you will have expert advice.

3ltr could be a 5l, 1kz-te or a 1kd-ftv...
