How wide are scat diff/ axle housings.

Post by BundyRumandCoke »

An idea popped into my head as I was following a Scat today. I am pretty sure they use the same diff centre as the earlier F70/75's. This means, and Im pretty sure someone on here mentioned they have one in their Scat, that my detriots would fit into a pair of scat diffs. Now, I have a project LJ80 underway at home. The scat axles and the LJ80 axles have to be around the same width.

So Hmmmmmm, LJ80 with detriot lockers front and rear. I wonder????????

From memory the Scat axles are around 1.2 metres wide, the whole truck is only about 1.45 metres. I can take some measurements tomorrow to confirm if you need them. I have been told that some guys running Suzukis here (not exactly sure which type) used to swap Scat axles under for the extra strength and the lower gearing.
I think they may have slightly modified the design of the half shafts from the scats to the F75 with the number of splines changing but I think the general dimensions of the diff centre are the same.
