80 Series Rim offset?

Post by KUSTOMV840 »

I want to order some bling rims for my cruiser. Its all 80's chassis diffs etc but I'm widening my 40 body to suit. What offset is standard 80? Or should I be looking at a wider offset since Im customizing the body to suit anyway?

Cheers, Troy.

80 tyres sit further of the brakes than on 40s. But the WMS on the hub sits out further..

I would get something that sits inboard quite a way like 17" patrol rims, and not even widen the 40 body.

Just stick it on and whack some TJ flares on the back and some 2.5" extra wide guards on the front with some 2.5" flares on.

DONE!

It's what I did with 80width diffs and 31x10.5s just sit in line with the flare.

The reason I'm widening the body is because I dont like the look of 18" guards with the narrow front. I want to keep the guards relitively stock at the front but will still prob have to put a flare of some sort on the back. Which I will make as part of the body anyway.

Standard 80 series is 0 offset on an 8" rim. neg 25 is the old leaf spring offset.

Most aftermarket rims these days in bling sizes will be more towards the 0 end of the scale rather than negative and most 8" rims of the last couple of years are pretty close to 0. Assuming you are coming say 8's to 8's. When you go 10's it changes of course to account for the width.

I'm looking at either 18x12's or 20x12's to fit a 36x15.5 tyre. I'll have a look at the website again to see if its a 0 offset. What about backspace or is that the same thing?
