4 barrel manifold for a P76 WANTED
i'm looking at doing the 4 barrel conversion on my p76, i've been told to look into a 4 barrel 390 holley. Does anyone have one for sale???

I have what I was told is a 275 Holley built for the Holden 253. I have this fitted with an adapter plate on a standard 4.4 2b manifold.
I has a 350 on a 4 barrel willpower manifold fitted to a 4.4 taken out to 5 litre and it was gutless over 3500 rpm ... but that was in a comp winch truck and I was after low down grunt and not high rpm horsepower.
I would have thought a 465 4 barrel would be a minimum on a 4.4.

When I first got the car it was running a 500 holley 2 brl. this made great power when opened right up
But was very lacking when trying to crawl up rocky track it made bugger all power down low.
It also flooded up really badly on any sort of a hill and used s**t loads of fuel when driven hard.
I had a quaddy that I got reconditioned but it was setup for a much bigger motor so I fitted this Holley, I figured that it was built for a 4.2lt and I was putting it on a 4.4lt so it shouldn't be to bad.
So far it does much better overall for fuel economy, doesn't flood up on the steep bits and makes good down low power
It still has a bit of a flat spot on heavy acceleration but overall pretty good.
The carby guy tells me that when we fix the Quaddy to suit the 4.4lt it should fix all these issues, so that is still the ultimate plan but I'm pretty happy with the little Holley for now.

Changing the power valve in the holley will fix the flat spot issue, i had a 350 on my old rangie and used a 59 jet and 65 power valve which seemed to be just right, the quad will be btter overall as it has small primaries for economy and huge secondaries for power.80rangie wrote:When I first got the car it was running a 500 holley 2 brl. this made great power when opened right up
