transmission stuff

Post by bad_religion_au »

ok, so i tell my family not to drive the 1976 fj40 yet (it isn't finished) so they do.

The speedo stopped working, 10k's later, there is a grinding type noise coming from the gear box. aparently sounded like when a thrust (?) bearing is shot in an old FX holden. only makes the noise in 4th, and in 3rd when lifting off the throttle.

someone please tell me there is some good news

ohh yeah, stock 4 speed behind a 2f.

nah, this is the same family member that's only job in the head rebuild was to drain the oil and refill it, and forgot to put the plug back in.
