help on vacume pump on alternator
help on vacume pump on alternator
hey does anyone know much about the vacume pump on the back of the alternator cause i have a 4.2 diesel patrol and its leaking oil from the vacume pump
Same thing happened to me last week. I thought that it was tne pump and bought a new one. In a couple days the new one went. Seems that it was the alternator all along. Seems that bearings in the back of the alternator went bad and took out the pump in the process. The alternator belt also was cut the first time, but the second time I realized what was happening and stoppe d the vehicle before any further damage. The electrician is looking at it now and I understand that there may be a fix re the pump (the vanes can be replaced). However any body else I spoke to, encouraged me to get a second hand alternator instead. i wll keep you posted re further developments.
