Is it the pump, or is it the return oil line leaking where it bolts to the vac pump.

Same thing happened to me last week. I thought that it was tne pump and bought a new one. In a couple days the new one went. Seems that it was the alternator all along. Seems that bearings in the back of the alternator went bad and took out the pump in the process. The alternator belt also was cut the first time, but the second time I realized what was happening and stoppe d the vehicle before any further damage. The electrician is looking at it now and I understand that there may be a fix re the pump (the vanes can be replaced). However any body else I spoke to, encouraged me to get a second hand alternator instead. i wll keep you posted re further developments.

The shaft also wears that drives the pump causing oil leaks. The seal on the pump can no longer keep the oil in.
Don't ask me, ask them. I'm just runnin for my life myself.

Electrician fixed the alternator on Saturday. Seems to have been the front bearings. Problem seems to have cleared up so far.
