rn46 hilux upgrades motor and powersteering

Post by offroadie »

Hey guys

Wanted to get some advice.

Have been searching the arse off the net to find some good info on 2 mods I want to do to my old hilux.

The first upgrade i want to do is get a better engine than the 18r sitting in it at the moment (not that its a bad engine for 29years old). I want an engine that will give me a bit more power and economy (no v6 or v8 conversions) and have seen a few options but I'm looking for a value for money and reasonable easy conversion. There are a few mods to the engine with a 5 speed box from a yn65 lux and it also runs dual fuel (gas/petrol) that may complicate my choices.

I have been looking at 4y motors with EFI as one option but too much info and not being specific to my situation i'm just getting lost.

Other thoughts i have are whether i should just run it on straight lpg or continue to use the dual fuel because of the huge petrol subtank installed aswell.

Any ideas or advice will be greatfully appreciated

Ok second upgrade

power steering or an upgrade to make the steering easier on the old dog. Any ideas?

Thanks Robbo
